American singer-songwriter Anna Josephine brings a 50s/60s folk sound with her new release, Oh, Joan.
By Jane Howkins
As well as the 50s/60s elements, Oh, Joan also has a traditional folk vibe, making for one awesome package altogether. It sounds fairly simplistic at first, but it’s a really beautiful song, going through a selection of amazing movements. Anna’s vocals are very strong, backed at times by a choir of wonderful voices, creating a unique atmosphere. The main instrumentation comes from a strummed acoustic guitar, but there’s also a pretty violin played at times, adding even more ambience to the piece. This is a must listen track for me!
