I’m always on the lookout for something a little different, so I was very excited to discover Bryanna Rain and her new record, LavenderWax EP. It’s quite hard to characterise by genre, although it does include elements of the ambient and electronica genres, making for something suitably unique. Why not try out something different?

LavenderWax EP opens suitably with LavenderWax, which is an intro song of sorts. It starts with the sound of an audience in the background, as the synths builds up over time. The piano chords are minimalist, but they really work well with the ebbing and flowing sound of the synths, as faint backing vocals drift through the music. It raises the tension suitably for the rest of the EP.

The music segues perfectly into #Blaming Simar / Pandemica, using some of the synths from the previous tune to open it up. However, the track soon turns into a massive EDM banger, made complete with a pulsating bassline and a huge drum beat, as the synths continue through the tune. The vocals are a little echoey in the background, allowing the music to truly shine through.

GhostBaby(Ectoplasma) / Blaming Vedant / Theme From B+E (Adventures) is more of a straight up EDM tune, but it’s still quite experimental, showing how talented Bryanna Rain really is. The track goes through several movements, raising up and breaking down, keeping your interested constantly piqued. The vocals are largely spoken here, placed well within the music. It’s certainly an interesting track, and one for all you EDM fans!

Bryanna Rain has produced something suitably unique on LavenderWax EP. It won’t be for everyone, but those into their more experimental pop/EDM should give it a whirl.
