French artist Frank Rabeyrolles has a really refreshing sound, displayed in his new release, Japanese dreams.
By Jane Howkins
Japanese dreams is a bit of a genre-bender, mixing together elements of dream-pop, lo-fi and psychedelia, making for something really unique in the modern age. A steady beat pulsates through the tune, as little spidery guitar melodies tail off, changing slightly as the tune progresses. Frank’s vocals drift along effortlessly, creating some lovely harmonies with the guitar motifs. The track sounds pretty simplistic at first, but there’s much more going on here than first meets the ear, keeping your interest piqued throughout. Why not try out Japanese dreams below?
