The Trusted are a British band with a gorgeous indie-pop sound, as displayed in their latest release, Marrow. It’s a gorgeous piece of work, sounding expertly produced throughout. I predict big things for The Trusted in the future, so you really ought to check their music out now if you haven’t already! Check out Marrow at the end of this interview with Tom Cunningham!

You recently released a new song called Marrow. What can you tell us about the track?
It’s a love song and we don’t do love songs ahaha. It was born during the lockdown and was inspired by that new wave, chorus-y 80s sound. On paper, it sounds kind of cliché but in reality, its satirical. Underneath the bonnet, it’s actually a song about obsession.
How has the reception to Marrow been so far, and where can it be purchased?
We didn’t know how people were going to react to this song because its sonically on the nose, but people are really enjoying it! It’s always hard to tell how people are going to react to things but we are happy with the reception. It can be found on all major platforms (Spotify, Apple Music etc).
Do you have any more singles planned for release?
We’ve got something really cool coming at the very very VERY end of the year.
Are there any plans for an EP or album anytime soon?
See our previous answer, that’s all I’m gonna say ahaha!
The band was formed during your secondary school years. How did you get together?
We were all in different bands and we came together around seven years ago. It was one of those things that just happened. The first time we played together it just felt right.
Marrow has an indie-pop sound. What/who influences you most as artists? What have you been listening to recently?
We are influenced by everything and anything. Marrow takes a lot from The Cure and Talking Heads… Talking Heads in particular have had a massive effect on me. Speaking In Tongues is genius. I’ve actually been re-listening to them recently because of the whole Stop Making Sense, 40th anniversary stuff.
Where are you based? What is the local music scene like with you at the moment?
We are based in Southend-On-Sea and the music scene is booming! So many great bands are artists, so many gigs. It all feels really healthy at the moment and it’s definitely a place to be.
Do you have anything else exciting coming up this year?
More music and more music.
Do you have any tour dates lined up for the UK?
At the moment, nothing is concrete, but things are being planned… as I type.
Any last words for the fans?
We always like to say this… We love you x
