Interview: Rhys Coventry

Australian singer-songwriter Rhys Coventry produces gorgeous indie-folk tunes, full of soul and passion. His latest release, Small Talk, really caught my attention, and I was eager to find out more. Check out the track at the end of this interview!

You recently released a new song, titled Small Talk. What can you tell us about the track? How has the reception to Small Talk been so far, and where can the track be purchased?

The reception has been really amazing, considering I am only in early days of releasing music. I’ve been blown away by the love on all my songs, but especially Small Talk, which seems to be connecting the most with people.  You can find my music on all major streaming platforms.

You also released three other songs this year, titled Carry Me Home, Keep On Running and I Choose You. What can you tell us about those tracks?

These tracks are a collection of songs written over the past 3 years, about various aspects of negotiating life as a young adult. From working on relationships, traveling, & learning to enjoy yourself, I feel like these songs have something for everyone to connect too.

Do you plan to release any more singles in the near future?

I have one more single planned for the rest for the year which completes my EP, called Daybreak. This will wrap up my first collection of songs, so I can’t wait to release it out into the world.

You’re from the Fleurieu Peninsula. Are you still based there? What is the local music scene like in your area?

I am now based between the Gold Coast & Byron Bay for the summer.

Do you have anything else exciting coming up this year?

The plan for the rest of the year is to do a heap of busking around Byron and start recording my next project.

Do you have any tour dates lined up for the UK?

Not yet but I would love to get over there sometime in the next 2 years.
