You recently released a new song, titled denim jacket. What can you tell us about the track?
It’s about those moments when you look back with nostalgia. You kind of wish you could experience that moment one more time, but you can’t and there is a romance in that I think.
How has the reception to denim jacket been so far, and where can the track be purchased?
The reception has been great. We knew we had something good when we first started jamming it out. No need to purchase it, just hit up our Spotify.
You’ve also released another single, titled try. What can you tell us about that track?
The first incarnation of try was written by Joe a few years ago. He showed it to me when we were lifeguards and I remember saying there was something about that song that’s special. We haven’t actually talked about what the song is about, but from my point of view I’d say it’s a love song that speaks about being free and not being confined to the societal frames imposed on us.
Do you plan to release any more singles in the near future?
Yes we’re actually releasing another single called beach house in two weeks time. We can’t wait as this song is the crowd favourite whenever we play live.
Am I right in thinking you’re releasing an EP soon?
Yep, on the 29th of December we’ll be releasing our self titled EP.
Are there any plans to release a full length album soon?
It really isn’t worth doing a full album until you build up the fanbase more. We have just recorded another EP though, which we plan to release in April next year.
denim jacket has a nostalgic rock sound. What/who are you most influenced by? What have you been listening to recently?
Our influences are pretty varied. When I was originally writing it I was listening to a lot of the Libertines and Mystery Jets, but everyone has brought something new to the game – whether that be Jake with jazz, Eliza with her soul, Joe with his surf rock vibe or Joash with his swifty drum beats.
Do you have anything else exciting coming up this year?
We may be doing a Christmas song if we get the time, but other than that just gigging and dropping a load of merch (t-shirts, hats, bumper stickers, car air fresheners). I think we’re moving into retail.
Do you have any tour dates lined up for the UK?
We were speaking about this the other day. I was born and raised in Chichester, West Sussex and Joash is from Hertfordshire so we would like to come home. I’m planning a few solo dates next December, so it remains to be seen if the band will travel. 2025 though – we’ll be there for sure.
Any last words for the fans?
Whoever it is that keeps playing our music on repeat thank you. Message us on our socials and we’ll buy you a drink with our Spotify winnings. I think we get $0.003 for each stream so when we hit 5000, you can have one drink if we go by London prices.
