El caballero de Febo is another new amazing piece of work from one of my favourite composers at the moment – Juan Pablo Fernández Ramos.
By Jane Howkins
El caballero de Febo is a bit of a slow starter, opening up quietly as more and more instrumentation is slowly added. It’s a truly beautiful piece of music, full of gorgeous woodwind trills and an occasional eerie moment, provided by the dark orchestral notes. It’s pretty playful at times, but the dark undercurrent still remains, keeping the listener constantly on their toes as the piece progresses towards a natural end. It’s a slightly different side of Juan’s music, but it’s still well worth a listen!
