Nancy Carey Johnson is a new discovery of mine who has shared not one, but two amazing new pieces of music of late, both taken from her debut album, Chaos & Grace.

The first track I had the pleasure to discover by this fascinating singer-songwriter was Note From God. It starts out with a cool palm-muted guitar riff, underpinning Natalie’s strong vocals perfectly. More and more instrumentation is added as the piece continues, slowly rising up towards the catchy chorus. It’s a good song, showing great promise for Nancy’s musical future.

The next track is Birthday Cake For Breakfast. It’s a little different to Note From God, seeing Nancy taking influence from the folk and Americana genres here. A beautiful fingerpicked acoustic guitar melody leads the listener into the track, as Nancy’s vocals weave their way over the top. It’s a lovely piece of work and one that shows a completely different side to this singer-songwriter’s music.
