Learn To Surf is a relatively new band on the scene. We had the chance to review their debut single Coming Good, and I’m pleased to say it’s an absolute banger! The track hints at good things for the future of the band, so find out more about them in this interview with Jack Titcombe before they get big!

You recently released a new single titled Coming Good. What can you tell us about the record?
It’s the first tune we wrote together for this project. Joe and I hashed it out as more of a folky thing, but James and Jim really took it in a different, more driving direction – it cemented the idea that we should all be involved in the writing process where possible going forward.
How has the reception to Coming Good been so far, and where can it be purchased?
It’s been great – people have said some really nice things and it’s really blown us away as we only made it for our own enjoyment. You can stream it at all the usual places or purchase a download via Bandcamp.
What was the writing and recording process like?
For this one it started with Joe and I on a couple of guitars but it really changed when we took it to the rest of the group. For the lyrics we were literally all throwing out ideas as we worked on it.
Do you have any singles planned for release in the near future?
Yes! Our second single Passing By is coming out on February 23rd.
Are there any plans for a full-length album or an EP anytime soon?
We’d like to do a full length. It’s difficult as we all have lives, other commitments etc so it may take a while to come to fruition, but we work quite effectively when we are able to get together. Watch this space!
Your music has a dreamy rock sound. What/who were you most influenced by when making the record?
We didn’t really speak about other artists or records when we were making these tunes, we’ve known each other for so long I think we sort of know what are shared influences and tastes are.
Where are you based? What is the local music scene like in the area?
We’re all in Surrey or South London. I’m not really sure of a local scene outside of our friendship circle to be honest. In a way, I think that’s all moved online now, for better or worse, but we try and support other artists where we can and hopefully that’s reciprocated too.
Do you have anything else exciting coming up in the next few months?
The next single and working on more music!
Do you have any tour dates lined up for the UK?
Nothing planned at the moment but I’d like to think we’ll play some shows in the future.
Any last words for the fans?
Keep streaming the tunes – a few more and we might be able to cover the cost of a band practice! In all seriousness, we’ve been chuffed with the response to this tune and we really appreciate anyone checking it out.
