Discovery: Saylor Dollar

I’m always on the lookout for new music, so I was very excited to stumble across Saylor Dollar. They’re a powerhouse multi-instrumentalist duo from Florida, an area that is home to some of the greatest musicians in the world.

Saylor Dollar create folksy songs with more than a hint of Americana and country, such as Talking to the Moon. The track has a lovely sound, reminding me greatly of the folk music that emerged in the 1960s. It’s fairly simplistic at first, with some subtle, fingerpicked acoustic guitar melodies running through the music, underneath the stunning vocals. Nevertheless, it’s extremely beautiful – those vocals are to die for!

My Disaster is slightly different, as it’s actually rather bluesy at times. It’s got a similar sound to Talking to the Moon in some ways, but it’s much more up-tempo, featuring a fast guitar melody that will make you want to tap your feet along instantly! The vocals are also faster, with a cool fiddle solo appearing towards the end, mixing things up nicely.

If you’re into your folk music, then Saylor Dollar are a must listen!
