I’m not normally a massive fan of the hip-hop/rap genres, but artist V of 40M offers something really unique with his synth-infused track, The Score. You recently released a new track called The Score. What can you tell us about the song?
Big 40M energy, heavy revolutionary vibes. If it’s the 4’s then you know what we’re on. When you mention the M, just know that it’s lit. It might be a bop but most importantly it’s a message, listen carefully and you will hear. There’s a large percentage of the population of melanite people in America, formerly identified as ‘Black people’, who desire to and are asserting their collective self-determination as a people in the context of international law as described in the Charter of the United Nations, etc. The fact that this is even mentioned in this publication, ‘supposedly’, along with all the other mentions by various comrades, brothers, sisters, etc over the years is supposed to be enough of an expression of such to have at bare minimum an acknowledgment from the UN, world court and whomever else ‘they’ decide to designate in these matters and proceedings.
The Score is another expression of that and more. It’s an anthem to motivate, a battle cry to inspire, a love letter to our people to inform and then some. Shout to the guys 40M Tye aka 8aby8 and Hippie G, International Hip is what we call him. Heavy on the 4’s. They went crazy in there, had Thrilla’ in there rocking out with us too. Movie for real.
How has the reception to the track been so far, and where can it be purchased?
It’s been swell, we appreciate all the love and support. We want to return that love and support, more importantly we want to turn that love and support into engagement and active participation, you feel me. The Score can be purchased and streamed on any and every platform available. Y’all tap in!
The Score also features 40M Tye and Hippie G from your group, 40M. Why did you decide to collaborate with them, and can we expect more collaborations in the near future?
They’re M’s and we are a unit so it’s automatic. As long as music is necessary and/or a beneficial medium to connect and tap in with our people, we’re on it.
Are you still working on music with 40M, as well as your solo stuff?
Everything 40M, like the song says.
Do you have any more singles planned for the near future?
I have a few coming up, titles and release to be announced. Stay tuned, we got plenty on the way. @Vof40M on all platforms.
Are there any plans to release a full length album or EP anytime soon?
Mixtapes yes, EP and LPs yes. Album when the time is right.
Your music has a hip-hop sound. What/who are you most influenced by? What have you been listening to recently?
Influenced most by the creator, my people and those to come. Musically, I’m personally eclectic so I like and am inspired by many, but influenced only by the aforementioned.
Do you have anything else exciting coming up over the next few months?
Big moves, big emphasis on the M. We have quite a bit going on with the movement subsequently the music – so like I said, stay tuned and tap in. 40M.us and @Vof40M on all socials.
Do you have any tour dates lined up for the UK?
We’re ready, we’re just waiting for the stars to align and we’re on the way. The M’s conquer Europe. Everywhere our people are, we are going to be.
