Marky Wildtype is an Edinburgh-based artist who first came to my attention last month through his track Tell Me Again. Now he’s back with the second single release from his upcoming second album If Destroyed Still True. It’s called The Hole.

The Hole is about the gaps we have within ourselves, those evolutionary hangovers that cause us modern day intellectual headaches, not least our own mortality. Though the lyrics are meditative in nature, we are treated to some of Marky’s unique brand of indie rock in the instrumental. It picks up right where Tell Me Again left off in terms of combining rock with electronica and experimentation yet also feels quite distinct from it in terms of how hard it leans into its rock sensibilities.
If Destroyed Still True is shaping up to be an intriguing album that I can’t wait to hear. I hope you’ll be equally enthused by the evidence so far. You can check out The Hole below.
