Discovery: Autosuggestion

Autosuggestion are a post-punk band who hail from just down the road in Hull. They’ve just hit my radar through their latest single Senseless.

It’s kind of incredible that Autosuggestion haven’t hit my radar until now. The band have delivered support slots for UK rock giants like The Murder Capital, IST IST and bdrmm, and have been building a slavish following on the strength of their live shows.

Better late than never, I suppose, and Senseless is one hell of an intro. Opening with a looping, pensive melody, it quickly hits a percussive stride and provides us a rich and melancholic story. It’s a track that simply brims with restrained energy and we get some passionate vocals when things let loose in the chorus.

Autosuggestion are frontman Jacob, Rowan on bass, Will on drums, and Scott on guitar. The four met in Hull through college, mutual acquaintances, and a shared love of the Yorkshire music scene.
