Artio are a pop-punk band from just down the road in Leeds who have just hit my radar thanks to their empowering new track Demigod.

By Graeme Smith

Demigod rails against the stigma that still exists for those recovering from past traumas, and calls out society’s refusal to support them. The message is delivered through YONAKA-style electronic-infused rock. The vocals are soft and floating in the verse, before the instrumentals hit hard in the chorus, creating an arresting contrast.

The track features on the band’s EP Pyrokid, which is available now in all the usual places. It’s always great to see a local band come to the fore and it certainly feels like Artio’s time.
