Over the past few months, Australian artist Hazlett has quickly become a favourite of mine, and for good reason!

Hazlett specialises in pretty modern folk songs, and new release The First Train Home is no different! It’s a track with a hell of a lot of heart and soul, getting deep inside the listener on the first playthrough and making a palpable imprint inside them. The music is gorgeous to behold – some lovely acoustic guitars strum through the tune, with occasional backing effects playing out in real time. The vocals are fantastic as ever, highlighted by the breakdown towards the end of the song, which sees the instrumentation disappearing and layers of vocals harmonising with each other in a haunting way.
