The title track Asymmetry comes up first, injecting a nice dose of energy into the record. A flurry of jangly guitar melodies opens the tune up, running throughout the track to create something incredibly dreamy, getting straight under your skin in no time. The vocals also have that classic dream-pop sound, slightly hidden underneath the rocking riffs, but they really work with the atmosphere created here. The guitar licks are ever-changing too, creating new sounds as the piece continues, keeping you constantly guessing.

Both tracks on this EP have been specially created to complement each other, with Sitting Pretty (Part 2) coming next. It’s quite a different sounding song, this time featuring a strummed acoustic guitar as the main instrumentation. It’s great to hear Eli & The Truth trying something different like this, and it really works! The tension ramps up as those spidery electric guitar motifs re-emerge, underpinning the vocal lines perfectly.

One things for sure after listening to Asymmetry – Eli & The Truth is a band that are surely set for greatness in the future, due to their impeccable songwriting skills and melodic approach to the dream-pop scene.
