German composer Juliano has become one of my favourite musicians of late, and it’s not hard to see why with Metamorphosis!
By Jane Howkins
Like most of Juliano’s other pieces, Metamorphosis is performed entirely on the piano, showing you don’t need to have an array of instruments to create such a full and beautiful sound. It may sound fairly simplistic at first, but there’s a lot more going on here than first meets the ear, seeing Juliano craft some wonderful piano melodies on the right hand, backed up by the rhythmic feel of the left hand. The piece picks up the pace later on, quite literally turning the tune on its head, echoing the title of the track perfectly.
