It’s been a while since we last featured music by Juan Pablo Fernández Ramos, so I’m pleased to be able to share his latest piece with you all!
By Jane Howkins
In Exodo: 1. La huída de Egipto, Juan has created a beautiful piece of classical music that focuses specifically on the story of Exodus from the Bible. The first movement is based on the initial flight of the Hebrew people from Egypt, and it really manages to characterise the themes of that tale well. Juan has always been good at crafting evocative pieces, and turning his hand to a biblical epic like this really shows how talented he is. The tension ramps up over the course of the music, with a flurry of string and woodwind instruments appearing halfway through to signify the arrival of the Pharaoh.
