Messy Eater channels messiness and Beck in new single

York’s Messy Eater invites us to embrace the mess in his new single, I’m A Mess Right Now.

Messy Eater is the music and illustration project of Pete Bott who is based here in York. He’s featured once before on this blog thanks to his debut single, Feel Good. Now he’s back with new single I’m A Mess Right Now.

It’s Inspired by Odelay-era Beck and features found footage of a self-help guru to create a sense of wackiness as it tackles the absurd reality of life. The vibrancy to its funky instrumental tempers the darkness of its lyrics while Pete’s vocal remains characterful and charismatic throughout. The chorus is a standout, reminding us all that’s it’s OK to embrace the mess every now and then.

The track will feature alongside Feel Good on his upcoming debut EP, Starters. The single is out now via Nutritious Sounds and you can give it a listen below.
