Salt Ashes incites rebellion with new track and video

Salt Ashes is a growing presence on the UK scene, having shared stages with Goldfrapp, Tiffany, Alpha Beat, Little Boots and Bimini. Now, she’s back on our blog with a rebellious new single and video.

By Graeme Smith

Real name Veiga Sanchez, Salt Ashes is a Brighton-based singer songwriter who has appeared on our blog a couple of times before. In 2022, she first graced these pages with romantic single Didn’t See It Coming. The following year, she delighted with her dreamy dance pop track Heart Attack.

Her latest track, Bad Things Right, explores the themes of self-perception and rebellion, inviting us to question the way we shape our identities. As Veiga puts it: “Bad Things Right dives into the frustration of being cast as the villain in someone else’s story.”

Enhanced by a video directed by Katya Ganfield, Bad Things Right is a dark pop number that brings big bass and edgy percussion. The vocals, by contrast, are soft and compelling, giving us plenty of emotion in a track that rises and falls pleasantly.

Bad Things Right is out now and you can check out its video below.
