Releasing his fourth mixtape in a series of projects, Khern$ has hit our radar through his new collection, Under the Influence Vol 4.2.0 Side A.

As such as the 20th of April comes round every year (affectionately known as 4.20 in the stoner community), Khern$ drops a new mixtape on that date. His latest is a six track tribute to getting high but there’s a lot more to it than just that. Packed with pop culture references and braggadocio lyrics, it’s a timeless hip-hop record.

Opening with fun, humour and punchiness, the mixtape instantly grabs your attention. Quickfire verses display wit and charisma while and old school beat proves intoxicating. There’s no let up over 23 minutes. We get big beats, features, laidback vocals, and plenty of edge.

In an increasingly serious industry, Khern$ is giving us some lightness. You don’t need to be a smoker to enjoy his latest collection, you just need to have a sense of humour and an appreciation for killer bars. I’m glad to his mixtape crossed my virtual desk. I may never have heard it otherwise. I look forward to checking out more from him.
