Glorified Daydreams is the boundary-pushing new EP from London-based indie pop artist, SCARLET.
By Graeme Smith
Bringing together spellbinding vocals, bright and evocative pop rock instrumentals, and emotional storytelling, Glorified Daydreams is a collection that easily grabs the attention. I really like what South East London-based SCARLET is crafting with her sound.
Moments of gentle vulnerability are contrasted by tense, confessional moments, such as EP highlight DYGA. Elsewhere we get the sultry post-punk howemptyofmetobesofullofyou and the lingering atmosphere of whispered closer and title track, Glorified Daydreams. SCARLET is responsible for one of the freshest sounds I’ve heard for awhile.
An independent artist, producer and visual creator, SCARLET clearly has the creative freedom to pull together a challenging collection like this. Yet, for all the experimentation, at its heart the album is a relatable, emotional story. A concept EP, it explores the complexity of personal loss and the resulting delusion that can follow.
Glorified Daydreams is out now and you can give it a listen below.
