With an emotional indie pop track that explores life’s recurring patterns, Fiora Anicca is new to our blog thanks to her single and video, Circles.

Circles is dark pop delivered through expressive and compelling vocals. It starts out slow and stripped-back, before unfolding naturally into a dreamy chorus. Ethereal layers add atmosphere and as the track arrives at its second half, we get an unexpected groove which keeps things interesting. The lyrics speak of heartache and feeling trapped, bringing to mind bad habits, unfulfilled desires, and toxic relationships.

Fiora Anicca is an art pop singer-songwriter based just down the road from us in Leeds. Originally from Poland, she’s found a home in the Yorkshire music scene thanks to her blend of pop, spirituality, and personal storytelling. Taking her cues from the likes of Beth Gibbons, Björk, Kate Bush, she combines powerful vocals with compositions that break the mould.

I always love finding new artists from the local area and Anicca certainly seems to be one to keep a close eye on. She adds a whole new dimension to music and I bet she’ll be a belter to catch live.

Circles is out now and you can give it a listen below.
