The album is heralded by the track Ultimate Love, a song that’s rich with emotive poetry. What stands out most about it is the expressive character of the vocals. They captivate from the beginning, growing in stature during a pleading chorus. The rock kicks up a notch after the early running, giving us some offbeat swagger that always leaves us guessing as to where things will go. It’s a beautiful wonder.

Omo Cloud is the project of non-binary artist Cole De La Isla who grew up in San Diego, USA. Raised by musicians, they picked up the guitar at age fourteen. An actor as well as a singer-songwriter, they left school at sixteen to move to Los Angeles and pursue a dream. Mausoleum is their debut album.

“This music was born out of the pandemic — and so much therapy,” De La Isla says. “The record is called Mausoleum because I’m trying to encapsulate this very long part of my life that is now closed, that I’m moving beyond — but I can always return to it and reflect on it.”

The album is out now via Dusty Mars Records, available to buy as a digital album or on vinyl via Bandcamp. You can give Ultimate Love a listen below.
