Informed by their childhood trauma, Mausoleum is the debut album from San Diego, USA-raised non-binary singer-songwriter Cole De La Isla, aka Omo Cloud.

“This music was born out of the pandemic — and so much therapy,” De La Isla says. “The record is called Mausoleum because I’m trying to encapsulate this very long part of my life that is now closed, that I’m moving beyond — but I can always return to it and reflect on it.”

The album is announced alongside the release of their single, Sometimes. There’s a Radiohead-esque introspection to it with raw riffs and searching vocals. A darkness runs through it all, as well as a relatable emotional quality that’s hard to ignore. It’s the expression of the vocals that really makes it, as well as the poetry in the lyrics. After a simmering first verse, the track explodes into life in a rock-infused chorus before taking a surprise, cinematic twist.

Mausoleum is out now via Dusty Mars Records.
