Sunshine Goldmine is the out-of-body new R&B track from singer-songwriter Miles Jenson.
By Graeme Smith
An experimental and funky track that brings with it soulful vocals and strikingly poetic lyrics, there’s a freshness about Sunshine Goldmine that makes it feel like very little else out there. Jenson’s vocals make it. They sing thought-provoking lyrics that speak of losing grip and trying to get through. A soaring chorus is, of course, the highlight.
Jenson says of the track: “Sunshine Goldmine is inspired by the duality of chasing fleeting inner peace through external, manufactured chaos. More specifically, it’s about when I went to a seedy party in my teenage years and thought I was doing cocaine but ended up taking ketamine. I fell into a state of out-of-body observation in an environment that was highly hedonistic, and it served as a metaphor for how people’s obsession with appearances can oftentimes motivate denial of harsher realities. I wrote the song in about fifteen minutes and it came to me as a sinister melody that felt powerful and very specific.”
Sunshine Goldmine is the title track from Jenson’s upcoming debut EP, set for release 20 June 2025. The single is out now and you can give it a listen below.
