One of my favourite discoveries from running this blog is Psyclo. The wonderfully unique artist always delights and surprises and now she’s back with a new single, All My Tears Are Dry.
By Graeme Smith
All My Tears Are Dry is an eerie number opening with plenty of atmosphere before finding a dark pop groove. As ever, it’s Psyclo’s vocals that grab the attention – understated, almost whispered, and utterly arresting. They relentlessly deliver lyrics that cut to the heart of the matter and don’t spare any details. There are hints of Lady Gaga and Grimes in its composition.
The single is taken from her upcoming album, Loved, which is also out today.
“I once thought being happy was the easiest thing, and maybe I was just not feeling it, but then I learned it was quite the opposite; being sad is the easiest thing to do, and happiness takes a lot of work, personal growth, and reflection.” says Psyclo of the album’s philosophy of self-love, “There are many things that can drive people insane nowadays; art is what keeps people entertained, escaped, healed, and sane. I was too comfortable with being in a dark space, and now I know being sad is quite lame; if 99% of the people choose to be sad because it’s the easiest way to go, then I’ll choose to be one of that 1%.”
