Local artist and friend of York Calling Miles Salter is back with his latest release as Miles and the Chain Gang.

Road To Damascus gives us a lively, funky instrumental, soulful vocals and poetic lyrics. It’s everything we’ve come to expect from Miles and the Chain Gang, who are regulars on this blog. A throwback, animated video completes the picture, seemingly nodding to the track’s ’90s roots.
“The song first came out in 1995,” says Miles. “I made an album of songs called Time To Credit Marvels. It was one of the tracks on that. I think I pressed two hundred copies of the cassette. I was living in Hull at the time and the sleeve was done by a back street printer with mixed results. It was before I started to put CDs out. Those tapes were always a labour of love!”
Road To Damascus was recorded in York at Young Thugs Studio, where Miles has recorded nearly all of his songs since 2018, working with producer and musician Jonny Hooker. It features a cavalcade of local musicians, including Billy Hickling on drums and percussion, Tim Bruce on bass, Karl Mullen on piano, Fay Donaldson on sax, Holly Taymar-Bilton on backing vocals, and Paul Winn on harmonica.
