Anti Atlas originally released Cool Is The Night in 2007. Now, they’ve revived the track with a new version, collaborating with the Grammy-nominated Richard Walters.

If you don’t know Walters, you’ll know some of the names he’s worked with. Deadmau5, Semisonic, Alison Moyet, Simon Armitage and Florence Pugh are just some of them.

You can feel the esteem he brings to Anti Atlas’s track, which sees the original “stripped down to its essential components.”

“We recently came across an acoustic version of the original track which we’d made just for radio back in 2007,” says Chris Hufford of Anti Atlas. “We loved its essence so immediately tried a re-work and it came out like magic. When we played it to Richard, he was excited about releasing it and gave it a fresh interpretation. So now we have a perfect new reflection of the song.”

Opening with gentle piano, Walters’ voice proves instantly captivating in the first verse. It’s the lyrics that are truly gripping though. They’re romantic, poetic, and paint a picture during the simmering verse.

The delicateness of the instrumental makes it feel like glass that might break at any moment. I was hanging on every note and word, thoroughly engrossed. That’s the sign of a perfect song.Cool Is The Night (Reflection) is out now, and you can listen to it below.
