The open road can be lonely, especially when one finds oneself dealing with grief on a long trip. This is the basis around which The Muster Point Project’s new single, Alaska Highwayman, coalesces.

“Everyone loves a great driving song, and this one hits straight to the heart,” says Kevin Franco, the man behind the project. “Told from the perspective of someone behind the wheel on a long, solitary drive, the track captures the quiet reckoning that follows the loss of a loved one to cancer—grief, reflection, and the isolation that lingers when the road stretches on.”
From melancholic origins, Franco has created a surprisingly upbeat song. It’s a ‘driving’ song in the truest sense of the word with dynamism, movement, and an underlying groove. Its lyrics tug the heartstrings but keep a philosophical perspective, creating a compelling narrative.
As much as the song is about isolation, there’s a story of connection behind it too. The single’s artwork is fan-shot, subtly showing the impact of The Muster Point Project’s music.
Franco and The Muster Point Project are well known to us. We’ve been sharing their music since 2024, covering as much as we can from their ambitious release schedule. My enthusiasm for the project is showing no signs of abating.
Alaska Highwayman is out now, and you can give it a listen below.
