Messy Eater Continue Their Rise With Infectious New Single Learning to love what I see in the mirror

Readers of this blog don’t need to be told how much good Messy Eater are, and it seems the industry is waking up to the York-based project.

In 2025, the Pete Bott-led act received support from BBC Introducing, Sofar Sounds, Apple Music and Amazing Radio, as well as being shortlisted at York Theatre Royal’s breakthrough artist competition. Of course, this comes as no surprise. We’ve been championing them since their 2024 debut.

Their new single Learning to love what I see in the mirror expands and emboldens their alternative electro-pop-rock sound, pairing self-reflective lyrics with an infectious groove. We don’t lose their signature style (inspired by the likes of Gorillaz, Beck, The Flaming Lips, and The Avalanches), and it feels Messy Eater are really finding their own place in the industry.

Learning to love what I see in the mirror is out now, and you can give it a listen below.
