Franz Ferdinand bring The Human Fear era to Leeds this February

Franz Ferdinand will return to Leeds on 25 February 2026 for a headline show at O2 Academy Leeds, joined by support act Home Counties.

The date lands shortly after the release of their new album The Human Fear, out now on Domino.

The band recently shared the video for Night Or Day, directed by Rianne White, who described the track as capturing “the turbulent, transcendent immensity of feelings that live and breathe within four walls,” shot entirely on 16mm film in the Scottish studio where the album was recorded. Alex Kapranos echoed the sentiment, framing the song as an ode to living intensely “night or day” and praising White’s ability to bring the storm‑soaked atmosphere of their recording environment to life. Night Or Day follows earlier single Audacious, offering another vivid glimpse into the themes that power The Human Fear.

Produced with Mark Ralph, the album sees Franz Ferdinand at their most immediate and melodic, blending dance‑floor‑ready hooks with the art‑school edge that has defined them since their early Glasgow days. Recorded at AYR Studios, the eleven‑track record explores deep‑rooted fears and the process of confronting them, while marking the first studio LP to feature members Audrey Tait and Dino Bardot, with Julian Corrie joining Kapranos and Bob Hardy in writing and creative duties.

Over two decades on from their breakthrough with Take Me Out and their Mercury‑winning debut, the band continue to push forward, with The Human Fear positioned as a potent addition to a catalogue that includes You Could Have It So Much Better, Tonight: Franz Ferdinand, Right Thoughts, Right Words, Right Action, Always Ascending and their 2022 compilation Hits To The Head. Leeds fans can expect razor‑sharp riffs, high‑energy rhythms and the band’s signature dance‑floor‑inducing swagger when they take to the O2 Academy stage.

Franz Ferdinand, with support from Home Counties, will play at O2 Academy Leeds on Wednesday 25 February 2026.
