York’s own Ruby Wheeler is proving to be a force to be reckoned within the local country scene.

Her tracks are witty, acerbic and well-observed. We’ve already shared two of them to our pages, both telling a separate and distinct story. Her third, Straight and Narrow, is equally rich with narrative, inspired by a line from Butch Cassidy and The Sundance Kid.

“He’ll feel a lot better once’s he’s robbed a couple of banks,” Butch quips, and fifteen minutes later Wheeler had penned Straight and Narrow, a cantering, folksy number full of wit, grit and hedonism.
