Beljune Enters the Calm After the Storm with Tribute To His Judy

Friendship is an incredibly important topic often left unexplored in music. It comes in many forms, including the bond between a gay man and their ‘Judy.’

By Graeme Smith

Judy is the new single from British artist Beljune who celebrates not just friendship with it, but also his grandmothers, who both shared the name. The single follows his previous release Storm which tackled the subject of male mental health. Judy, by contrast, focuses on the healing after.

It’s a suitably calm track, recalling the dreamy mornings after the heavy nights before. A soulfulness permeates every note, especially in Beljune’s soft vocals. Poetic lyrics bring the story to life right to its lingering final chorus.

There’s a platonic romance to the track that makes it feel universal yet unexpected, and a hopefulness that shows you there is beauty in the world still. It’s frankly a stunning piece and a timely reminder of why we fell for Beljune originally back in 2023.

We’re not the only fans. He’s has scored multiple Spotify editorial playlist entries and even an Arts Council Grant. With an EP, BLACK & WHITE FILM, on the way, it’s the perfect time to be getting reacquainted with him.
