Harlow Reign is a relatively new singer-songwriter on the music scene, despite having performed for the majority of her life. We recently reviewed her new self-titled EP and loved it, showing some fantastic songwriting skills and a voice to match the greats. She’s had a previous interesting life up until now – find out more about Harlow below!

I think this is our first time talking to you! How are you Harlow? How has your year been so far?
Thank you for having me! I am well, thank you. It has been a crazy but rewarding year so far!
You’ve just released your debut EP. Were you nervous about releasing your first proper record? How has the reception been so far?
Absolutely! I was incredibly nervous because these songs are so personal. When you’re releasing original music, you’re also sharing pieces of yourself, and that’s a vulnerable thing to do. But alongside the nerves, I was also really excited and proud. This EP represents years of dreaming, writing and believing in myself.
The reception has been amazing so far. Hearing people connect with the songs and tell me they relate to the lyrics means everything to me. That’s why I write music.
What can you tell our readers about the record?
The EP is a collection of stories from different chapters of my life. The songs weren’t originally written as an EP – they were all written individually over time – but when I listened back, they naturally belonged together. The EP explores love, loss, resilience, self-discovery and hope. Every song comes from a genuine experience, and I wanted this release to introduce people to who Harlow Reign really is, both musically and emotionally.
You’ve released 2 singles this year already, All You Need and Take Me Away. Are there any plans to release any more singles in the coming months?
There’s definitely more music on the way. I love releasing singles because it allows each song to have its own moment and lets me really focus on the story behind it. I’m always writing, so there are plenty of ideas waiting to be brought to life. I’m excited for people to hear what’s coming next and thankful for Hitmint Music for supporting these releases.
Can we expect a full-length album from you at some point in the next couple of years?
I hope so! Right now I’m focused on continuing to write the best music I can. Whether the next project becomes another EP or grows into a full-length album will depend on how the songs evolve. I never want to force the creative process, but an album is definitely something I’d love to do.
I hear you’ve been performing since the age of 3! How did you get started in the music industry?
I’ve been on stage for as long as I can remember, so performing has always felt natural to me. When I was 11, I wanted to learn the drums, but my parents convinced me to take singing lessons instead. Looking back, that decision changed my life. For years I thought I’d probably become a cover singer, but I always had this desire to create my own music. It took me a long time to find the confidence to share my own stories, and eventually I connected with a producer in Melbourne who helped bring the Harlow Reign project to life.
I see Evanescence are a key influence – another band I love! Who else are you influenced by and what have you been listening to recently?
Evanescence has always been a huge influence, especially Amy Lee. She’s shown that you can be powerful and vulnerable at the same time, and that’s something I’ve always admired. I also love artists like Halestorm, The Pretty Reckless and Paramore. They all have this incredible ability to tell honest stories through powerful vocals.
You’re based in Kalkallo in Australia. What is the local music scene like in your area? Do you perform much?
Kalkallo itself is still a growing area, so most of the live music opportunities are in Melbourne, which has an incredibly diverse and supportive music scene. There are so many talented artists and great venues, and it’s inspiring to be surrounded by that creativity.
To be honest, I probably don’t perform as much as I should. Recording and songwriting have always been where I feel most at home, so that’s naturally where I spend most of my time. Performing my own music is something I’m continuing to build confidence in, and it’s becoming a bigger focus for me. There’s nothing quite like seeing people connect with your songs in person, so I’m hoping to spend a lot more time on stage as I continue to grow as an artist.
Any last words for the fans?
Firstly, thank you. Every stream, every message, every person who takes the time to listen to my music genuinely means the world to me. Independent artists couldn’t do this without that support.
I’d also love to leave everyone with this: it’s never too late to chase what you love. We often tell ourselves we’ve missed our chance, but I don’t believe that’s true. It took me years to release my own music, and I’m so glad I never gave up on that dream. If there’s something you’ve always wanted to do, don’t wait. Believe in yourself, take the leap, and trust that your story is worth sharing.
