Moon and Aries Offer A Moment of Calm With New Single

Moon and Aries first featured on our blog in 2022 before stepping back into the spotlight in June 2026 through their single High Noon, reminding us of why we fell in love with them.

We’ve not left it so long to cover them again, relishing the opportunity to feature their latest single, In the Silence of the Hills.

The track is all about taking a moment to breathe and put aside the demands (self-inflicted and otherwise) to rush. It’s advice that’s well worth taking, and the single is the perfect soundtrack. My advice? Listen to without any other distractions.

The composition is suitably serene, starting with a gently pulsating synth beat before long and lingering strings come in. Jordana Moon’s vocals prove instantly gripping against this cinematic backdrop, delivering storytelling lyrics with an understated passion. Unconventionally, the track deliberately forgoes any drums, leaving empty space into which the emotion can expand.

As the track progresses, the instrumental grows in complexity, and we get a subtle tapestry of sounds that momentarily catch the ear. All the while, the calming synth presses on, providing an anchor around which everything hinges. The lyrics get ever more philosophical, uncovering a hidden depth to the everyday. A delicate crescendo rounds the track off beautifully.

The more I hear from Jordana Moon and her counterpart Tom Aries, the more I love them. The duo are unusually placed across two continents, with singer-songwriter and lyricist Moon based in Canada and composer and producer Aries in Germany. The distance doesn’t stop their compositions feeling intimate; you’d never know how many miles are between them. Originally composed on piano by Aries, the piece was then transported across the Atlantic for Moon to add her voice.

Joining the pair on the track are London-based classically trained cellist Zara Hudson-Kozdoj, Canada-based contributing guitarist Peter J. Mitchell, and Switzerland-based saxophonist Hanna Marchand. The single was mixed and mastered by Chris Kung and Francois Rocheleau.

In the Silence of the Hills is the fourth track on Moon and Aries’s upcoming five-track EP, Prairie Souls, which is set for release 6 November 2026.
