Relative newcomers to the scene, Spinors have just released their third ever single.

By Graeme Smith

You loved the cage follows on from their dream-chasing anthem Walk Alone and the politically charged dissection of a post-truth world, Choose To Believe. The band’s third single is a story of heartbreak, told against a backdrop of hard rock.

A short atmospheric intro gives way to some thrashing guitar which leaves you in no doubt what you’re going to get from You loved the cage. An elongated instrumental sets the scene before Josh Homme-esque vocals deliver the first verse. They’re full of longing and regret as the story unfolds. Each moment is punctuated by more guitar shredding. A frenetic, chanting climax releases the emotion powerfully.

While the sound is Queens of the Stone Age-adjacent alternative rock, the band’s aesthetic, as revealed by the accompanying video, is markedly different. Spinors live in the world of Goth and steampunk, immaculately presented in the video directed by Sergie Code with cinematography by Jay Notley. In it, the band performs in front of Lincoln Cathedral and Lincoln’s Drill Hall, and in London at St Dunstan in the East Church Garden.

Interestingly, they has chosen to tell two versions of the breakup story across the track and video. While the narrator declares to his lover, “now that you’re free, you don’t love me anymore”, she is still trapped in addiction.

Formed in 2026, Spinors are Argentine singer and guitarist Sergie Code, bass player Gabe Scapigliati, and drummer Cristina Pucci. They are based in London. Code moved to the UK to bring his music to a wider audience, recruiting Gabe and Cris, who originally met through a metal tribute project.

The band takes its name from the quantum theory of particles that can exist in multiple states at once, but when observed, they take on a definite state. They chose that name to reflect how their music stays undefined until you listen to it.

I have to say, I didn’t know what to expect when they hit my radar, but I’m certainly glad they did. I’ll be keeping a close eye out for more music from them.

If you want to keep up to date with all Spinors are doing, you can by heading to their website, and by following them on Facebook, Instagram, X, TikTok, YouTube, Spotify, SoundCloud, and Bandcamp. You can also catch them live at Brudenell Social Club, Leeds, on 13 March 2027.

You loved the cage is out now, and you can watch the video below.
