Adam + Attack By Fire Seeks an Easy Life in New Americana Single

We’ve featured a lot of Adam + Attack By Fire on this blog, and there’s a reason for that. In fact, there are several.

By Graeme Smith

His classic songwriting for one. Adam Tarsitano, the man behind the project, draws from the greats when curating his style, giving us shades of the ’60s, ’70s and ’80s. His latest single, Camouflaged and Broken, sounds as if Lou Reed had grown up in the Deep South of America rather than New York City.

Lyrically he is direct. Camouflaged and Broken chronicles his personal struggles, broadening them to a relatable tale of the messy lives we all find ourselves coping with. “Why does it have to be so complicated?” he demands in the chorus, and as a listener you can’t help but wonder the same.

Gentle, melancholic verses trade places with the rousing, searching chorus, giving us plenty of texture and structure. As the track’s story unfolds, we experience a narrator caught in a cycle of self-doubt and fleeting optimism. It’s the contrast that makes the single stand out.

“I wrote this song while trying to make sense of some things that were going on in my own life,” says Tarsitano. “And I needed to work through those feelings in a way that felt natural to me. So I wrote this song.”

Most of all, I think, it’s his fearlessness when it comes to genre that keeps us coming back. Previously, I’ve described Adam + Attack By Fire as a “genre chameleon” and it’s been true that we’ve never known what we’re going to get next from him. Singles such as the glam rock of Song for Georgia and the ’80s pop of All Good Hair Bands show how far he has roamed.

For now, he seems to be settling into country and Americana. Camouflaged and Broken follows on from June 2026 album release Country Fired, Pt. 1, which I described as “blues, rockabilly, and honky-tonk.” I speculated at the time whether Tarsitano would stick to the genre and it seems he broadly has.

Adam + Attack By Fire might not be moving as fluidly through genre anymore, but his classic songwriting and astute lyrics remain. I’m eagerly awaiting his next release already.

If you want to keep up to date with all he’s doing, you can do so by heading to his website and by following him on Spotify, Bandcamp, YouTube, Instagram, and TikTok.
