Making its debut in March 2015, York’s very own Pop-Up Cinema ‘Kinofolk’ is proud to be a part of the city’s cultural offering.

Located in ‘The Basement’ arts venue, our capacity is restricted to just 25 tickets per screening. This is no ordinary cinema however, with seating consisting of cosy candle-lit bistro tables and sofas.

In our first 10 months we have screened over 25 films to hundreds of hungry cinephiles, film-buffs and even the odd passer-by and her dog.

Our programme is a diverse range of cult, classic, foreign-language and independent films, some of which have never before been screened in the city.
