Marsicans

Leeds four piece Marsicans play York City Screen Basement on Thursday 27 April after releasing their single, Friends.

MARSICANS are a Leeds four-piece, whose harmony-laden, hard-edged sound is quickly gaining notoriety alongside their reputation for thrilling live shows. Following a number of ecstatically-received shows in the Netherlands and France, MARSICANS recently supported Minnesota’s Hippo Campus on five UK dates before headlining their own UK tour throughout February, March and April to promote their forthcoming FRIENDS single, the first of a string of scheduled releases on LAB Records planned for this year.

All of them long-term friends from school and the Leeds music scene, MARSICANS’ line-up started sampling old synths, distorting guitars and writing songs together in 2014. From an early incarnation of raw 18 year olds opening for the then up-and-coming Catfish & The Bottlemen at a small venue in Wakefield, in the past 12 months MARSICANS have played sold out shows in Leeds, London, Sheffield, Manchester and Lincoln, alongside European dates and a Glastonbury performance that was showcased on the BBC’s Best Of Sunday highlights.

Both the FRIENDS single and tracks from the band’s recent ABSENCE EP were played on BBC Radio 1, BBC 6Music, BBC Introducing, Radio X and Amazing Radio; both were featured on the Spotify New Music Friday, Indie List and Hot New Bands playlists; and both received a sackful of positive coverage from the blogosphere. And, in the case of FRIENDS, received enthusiastic tweets from none other than Chris Martin and Coldplay.

Previous releases include the CHIVALRY EP [self-released in 2014] and the GONE IN A SECOND single [Love vs Fear Records in 2015].
