Something This Bright Should Explode is the dark new video from French folk singer Barton Hartshorn.

The video sees Barton wandering through an abandoned house, perhaps post-explosion. Barton’s Leonard Cohen-esque singing and song writing style is easy on the ear. Meandering bass keeps things interesting and the introduction of the brass section late on is an unexpected addition.

Heavily influence by the music of the ’70s there is an element of nostalgia in Barton’s style, yet this doesn’t feel dated at all. It perhaps time for a resurgence of classic ’70s song writing. Check out Something This Bright Will Explode below.
