Roots and Americana music lovers in and around York can look forward to seeing some outstanding international and UK artists at a new regular ‘Green Chilli Roots’ music night at the popular Winning Post pub on Bishopthorpe Road in the city. Most of the concerts will take place on the first Tuesday of each month and will be complemented by some additional nights at the Winning Post and at other venues in the city to fit in with artists’ touring schedules.
Amongst those already booked to appear this year are Lachlan Bryan from Australia, Canadians Port Cities and Christina Martin, Nashville based Amelia White, and – a favourite of Bob Harris – Danni Nicholls. Popular Yorkshire artists are featured too, including Plumhall, Gary Stewart, Fargo Railroad Company and Fran Wyburn. The headliners will be supported by local artists to provide a full evening of high quality music.
The first of the concerts, on Tuesday 6th March at the Winning Post, features York based Dan Webster who is playing a rare full band set supported by up and coming band Small Screen. Advanced tickets at only £5 + booking fee are available from the Yorkshire Ticket Shop: http://www.yorkshireticketshop.co/green-chilli-roots.html
On 31st March Canadian trio Port Cities will be playing at the Basement, City Screen on Coney Street. Advance tickets for that concert are available from the venue http://www.thebasementyork.co.uk/port-cities
