I guess the surprise with Rainbow Kitten Surprise is that their style has nothing to do with rainbows or kittens.

New track Holy War has a definitely Cold War Kids feel with offbeat vocals and a down-tempo beat. The chorus is truly understated epic-ness and the harmonies of “ka-boom” could have gone far wrong but are instead so right. In the video the world ends in such a subtle way that it just feels like everyday life.

It’s the knowing in Rainbow Kitten Surprise’s art that really attracted me to them. I’m not alone as they’ve recently been hailed as “one of the most eclectic and exciting live acts in recent memory.” Check out Holy War below.
