What God Would Keep Us Apart is a true story, with the lyrics telling the tale of how vocalist Harland’s girlfriend was locked away for two weeks after coming out to her parents. It’s a shame that this sort of thing still happens in modern Britain, but perhaps music like this can help to bring awareness to these injustices. It also helps that it’s a truly beautiful track, and the passion heard within Harland’s voice is wonderful.
