We recently sat down with a bunch of artists from the Stencil Label, to find out what makes them tick. The next band we sat down with rockers Crypitus, who seemed to be having a very good year!

How is 2018 treating you so far?
Joe: Pretty good.
Pete: Pretty good so far.
Zach: I can’t complain. This has been one hell of a year.
Doug: 2018 has been great for Crypitus.
Have you released any music so far this year? If so, what can you tell us about that?
Pete: We released a single called Danger earlier this year. It’s a really fun song about the state of the world.
Zach: We released a single earlier this year. Danger. Check it out.
Doug: Danger is a song about worldly discourse, a very prevalent theme for today. You can purchase our single off most major sites!
Are you working on any new music at the moment? What are you working on, and when will it be released?
Joe: We will be working on an album pretty soon. Not sure when it’ll be released.
Pete: We have an album planned out that we’re recording this fall. Not sure when it’s coming out yet.
Zach: We have a ton of music in the works, but we have an 8 song playing list that we’ve been playing over and over and over because it’s going to become our first full length. It should be out sometime this winter.
Doug: The album on its way!
Have you got any upcoming tours planned? If so, where are you playing and where are you looking forward to going most?
Joe: I don’t think we have one planned yet.
Pete: We have some shows the rest of the year but not a tour yet. We did two this summer already and they were a blast.
Doug: Nothing planned currently but we took a wild ride from Canada to Virginia this summer.
Who/what has influenced you the most as musicians?
Joe: Old Metallica and Primus.
Pete: Frank Zappa will forever be an influence of mine.
Zach: I love BTBAM. Blake Richardson is my biggest influence. Mike Portnoy is my number 2, followed by most of Frank Zappas drummers.
Doug: Death, Dissection, Megadeth ect.
What have you been listening to recently that you can recommend to our readers?
Joe: Black Absence is pretty cool.
Pete: Arch Echo is really cool. Plini’s new EP too.
Zach: Plini, Sithu Aye, BTBAM…. I highly recommend The Liquid Tension Experiment… It’s Dream Theater without James Labrie ruining everything. Check out some Frank Zappa while you’re at it
Doug: We have been running around with Alions from Lewiston Maine, Check them out!
Why do you think people should pick up one of your records or come and see you live, and what can people expect from one of your shows?
Joe: We have a neat proggy thrash metal sound. Expect high energy, moshing and a super fun time.
Pete: We cross over a lot of genres in our music so we keep it interesting. Headbanging, moshing, lots of energy.
Zach: It’s just the right thing to do. Expect shenanigans.
Doug: A thrashy thought invoking, intimate concert experience.
Any last words for the fans?
Zach: Keep a jar of marbles. Don’t lose em
