We sat down with a bunch of artists from the Stencil label recently to find out how their year was going. The next band we chatted to were The Frost, who have had quite a busy year! Find out why below…

How is 2018 treating you so far?
We feel like we made some huge steps for 2018. We always played some great venues and locations, but this year in particular we stepped up. We landed quite a few gigs in Atlantic City (the entertainment capital of New Jersey), and multiple shows in New York City. The entertainment in these areas are pretty cut throat. For us to have the honor of playing in these two cities was quite an accomplishment. We were also very fortunate to be honored and recognized by one of the largest independent music shows in the world, The Josie Music Awards. Although we didn’t win, we were honored to receive 4 nominations being there’s so much talent reviewed by the Josie Network worldwide.
Overall, I’d say 2018 has treated us well up to now!
Are you working on any new music at the moment? When will it be released?
We released a single back in August called Be Ok, which is acoustic. On September 28, you can find our newest single Gotta Live Fast on all multiple platforms worldwide. (Spotify, Apple, iTunes, Amazon Music).
We are pretty excited about this release because we stepped out of our comfort zone to create it. When we play our live, it’s just two voices and an acoustic guitar. With Gotta Live Fast, we went full production. The song is upbeat and fun. If you love outlaw country and rock, you might take a liking to it.
Aside from our release next week, we are working on a lot of new music and projects. We release music on our own and as The Frost so we’re always in the studio doing something.
Do you have any upcoming tours planned? If so, where are you looking forward to playing and going the most?
We are focused on getting our own music out there as of now, so I wouldn’t say we have a “tour” in the works, but if you live in America we will be playing 12 shows a month across Pennsylvania, New York, and New Jersey for the rest of the year!
Our favorite places to perform are in the Poconos, Atlantic City and of course in Manhattan.
Who/what has influenced you as a musician?
Multiple musicians and bands have influenced us. We also influence each other in a way.
What have you been listening to lately that you can reccomend to our readers?
Chris: I listen to a lot of rare albums from the 70s and 80s. I’ll go to a record store and just pick something out I’ve never heard of, and sometimes it’s a really great find.
Leah: I reccomend the new jazz album by Diana Krall and Tony Bennett. The sound of it is timeless.
Why do you think people should pick up one of your records or come and see you live, what can people expect from one of your shows?
As of now our singles are downloadable only. We feel listeners should download or stream our songs because they are relatable. Everyone can feel what we’re talking about in our music.
Our live shows are a good time. We take requests and we play a mixture of genres. We play covers and originals and you are bound to hear something that you like.
