Playlist: New Music Retrospective #3

It’s that time again to look back at some of the best tracks we’ve featured in the past few months.

By Graeme Smith

Kicking things off is the duo Handmade Moments with their track Where Do You Find The Time? The track proved very popular with our readers when we shared it earlier this year and we loved it’s carefree kookiness.

Following on is Radio 1-backed Cambridge talent Navina with her track 27 Hearts. I found it captivating when I first shared it and that has not changed over time. Hot on her heels is the sober ballad Jack Daniel’s Day from singer-songwriter Raven Bro, someone Jane compared to Amy Winehouse when she first shared the track.

I’ve rounded things off with two slow and soulful tracks. Firstly it’s Birmingham-based Wilder Adkins with his folk cover of Bruce Springsteen’s Marietta. Although a cover, Jane felt he made it his own. Closing things is the beautifully simple feminist anthem She Is What We Need by The Little Miss. I was blown away by the power in this song when I first heard it, and I still am.
