Manchester’s Big Society are alternative rock band armed with sleazy riffs and psychedelic storytelling.
By Graeme Smith
New track Marine Club Party feels like some kind of tribute to a tired party scene. If that sounds pessimistic then that’s offset by some hip-swaying guitar, bass and percussions topped off with some funny, late afternoon vocals. The story unfolds in a natural, haphazard way like someone telling a story from memory. The whole thing is incredibly infectious.
Big Society have become festival staples in recent years, previously appearing at Live at Leeds and The Great Escape to name a couple. In a couple of weeks they’ll be playing in support of Bob Dyland & Neil Young in Hyde Park, London on the 12th and then back up north for Cotton Clouds Festival in August.
