We’ve been following Jade’s career with some interest for years now, ever since she first came onto our radar performing as Rrose Sélavy. We quickly signed her up to perform at our first ever live show and have watched her career bloom from there.
Salvaging our lost connection to nature, Jade presents her debut album of poem-songs Algal Bloom in collaboration with Make Noise and Warren Records. Fusing metaphor and melody, her release will go worldwide in January 2020 and be followed by a nationwide tour.
In Algal Bloom, she carves out a new sub-genre of poem-songs, fusing metaphor and melody, as her primary passion is poetry. Most of her poem-songs avoid refrains and habitual structures in favour of free-flowing melodic musings that seek to salvage our lost connection to nature. She has been commissioned to write for BBC Radio 3’s Words and Music and for BBC Proms, performing at a range of venues like York Opera House and West Yorkshire Playhouse, and at festivals including Ledbury Poetry Festival, Ilkley Literature Festival, Sheffield’s Off The Shelf, Beverley’s Lit Up and York Literature Festival.
