We chat to Leeds indie rock four piece Mossie about new music, influences and who’s hot on the Leeds music scene.
Interview by Jane Howkins
How is 2020 treating you so far?
We’ve come into the new year flying in all honesty and we aim to keep the ball rolling. We played a sell out show in Leeds on 25 January following the release of our second single. We have a few things in he pipeline that we are waiting to announce soon!
Have you released any music so far this year? If so, what can you tell us about that?
We released our second demo track on 24 January Just Another Girl. We have been hard writing for the last six months and haven’t taken a break between the release. We were back recording again the following week. Check our the track and let us know what you think.
Are you working on any new music at the moment? What are you working on, and when will it be released?
Yes, we are. We aim to release another song around June time followed by our debut EP around August time. We feel that the stuff we are writing now has improved and are looking forward to getting the tracks out there for you guys to listen to.
Have you got any upcoming tours planned? If so, where are you playing and where are you looking forward to going most?
We have a whole load of gigs planned. We are currently working with promoters on a tour which will be announced soon. In the meantime, all of our gigs are on Facebook or Bands In Town if you want to check out where we are.
Who/what has influenced you the most as musicians?
Life. We all lead different lives and we tend to write about real things, the everyday stuff that we come to just expect. We obviously have influences from other musicians and the guys we listened to growing up etc. You can hear some of that through our music I think and I’ll let you guess who those people are.
What have you been listening to recently that you can recommend to our readers?
Of course you should give Mossie a listen. We like a wide range of music to be honest, some local bands, some well known and some unknown. A good song is a good song if you ask me, regardless of who it’s by. Glass Caves are local to us and they are worth a listen.
Why do you think people should pick up one of your records or come and see you live, and what can people expect from one of your shows?
We are pretty explosive on stage I’d say; we like to entertain; we have a message running through our music but ultimately we want people to enjoy their night and have a bit of rock ‘n’ roll in their lives. It’s all about the rock ‘n’ roll. We know how to get a party started; don’t worry about that mate.
Any last words for the fans?
Yes, thank for listening to us, without you guys our creations are obsolete. Peace!
